Dr. Arthur Thorpe is a board-certified Gynecologist with nearly a decade of experience treating a wide range of gynecologic and urologic issues and helping women feel healthy and whole again. A native of Durham, Dr. Thorpe grew up visiting family in Person, Durham and Granville counties and has fond memories of visiting family in Roxboro as a child. He has always considered North Carolina to be home and was happy to find an opportunity to return to the area and serve the community.
Dr. Thorpe attended Medical School at Howard University in Washington, DC and completed fellowship training in Minimally-invasive gynecologic surgery from Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach, FL. Originally an electrical/instrument engineer with an expertise in lasers, Dr. Thorpe felt the calling of a career in medicine after seeing and experiencing the discrimination and lack of access to healthcare in women. To Dr. Thorpe, medicine is an altruistic endeavor and his patients come first.
Dr. Thorpe splits time between his Person County and his home in Washington, D.C where he lives with his wife and daughter. In his free time he enjoys spending time with family, watching and playing sports and aviation as he is a licensed commercial pilot and A&P mechanic.
